Christians
claim to be followers of Christ and to know God
personally. Have you ever wondered what it would be
like to know God? Let us share with you what the
Bible has to say about this issue.
GOD
SEEKS A FRIENDSHIP WITH US
2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”
Isn’t it amazing to think that God desires to have a relationship with each of us! -- But there is a problem.
WE ARE SEPERATED FROM GOD
Romans 3:23 tells us, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 states, “For the wages of sin is death.”
None of us are perfect. Our sin separates us from a relationship with God. How do we bridge the gap between God and us? Someone needs to pay the consequences for our sin and rebellion.
JESUS PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR SIN
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrated His love for us while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”
Jesus, who was God in the flesh, paid the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross. He not only died but rose again proving who He claimed to be – God in the flesh.
IT IS THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST THAT WE CAN HAVE A FRIENDSHIP WITH GOD
Romans 10:9 “...That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
You can begin a relationship with God right now by praying something like this, “Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. I believe you died and rose again. I want to worship you as my Lord and Savior. Make me the kind of person you want me to be.”
There is no magic in this prayer. The prayer just needs to reflect the attitude of the heart and mind.
